As the Premier League returns from an international break that felt like an eternity, two of the Premier League’s biggest teams face off at the Emirates as Man City travel to London to face Arsenal. The hosts find themselves in a lot of trouble as they sit in 6th place with games in hand on 4 of the 5 teams above them. Pep Guardiola finds his team in 3rd in his first Premier League season just 2 points from Tottenham in 2nd.
Arsenal have only lost once against Man City in their last 7 league meetings as they have won 3 and drawn 3. However, the one Man City win was actually in this season’s return fixture where they came out 2-1 winners in December. Both teams have scored in 5 of these 7 games.
Arsenal will really need to win this one to give them any chance of making it back into the Champions League places and possibly to make sure Arsene Wenger can keep his job, at least until the end of the season. He has a fully available squad to pick from, except Santi Cazorla, who will miss the whole season, so they should have a good chance of picking up all 3 points.

Man City will be hoping to push for that 2nd place as it’s clear that Chelsea will go on to win the league but a loss against Arsenal would be a massive dent in their hopes. Their task won’t be made any easier with the absences of Ilkay Gundogan, Gabriel Jesus and Kevin De Bruyne, who have all been very good this season when they have featured.

It’s hard to see Arsenal managing to win this fixture after they’ve been so poor recently with all the talk about whether or not Wenger will sign a new contract. Man City will be looking to take advantage of this and they should go on to win at the Emirates to pile even more pressure onto the French manager. If Arsenal turn up it will be a great game but with their poor form, it’s very hard to see past a Man City win.
