After another weekend in the Premier League with plenty of goals, the last match to be played sees West Bromwich Albion take the trip to North London to face Arsenal. The sides have had contrasting as West Brom sit in 10th place with a game-in-hand on all of the teams above them while the Gunners are 12th and can only reach 7th with three points. The visitors will move into the European places with a win.

STATS

  • Arsenal have been less than impressive to say the least this term so far and with just two wins in their opening five games, Arsene Wenger’s job is under scrutiny yet again. Wins over Leicester City and Bournemouth have provided high points while a well-fought draw away at Chelsea last weekend showed a lot of character in a game where they could have won. A 4-0 loss to Liverpool was embarrassing.
  • West Brom have enjoyed a good start to the season and have only lost one game so far, a disappointing one against Brighton. They haven’t faced any of the top teams so far but have managed to pick up a decent amount of points from the teams that are expected to finish around them. They played out a boring goalless draw with West Ham United in their last match.
  • Danny Welbeck, who has struggled for regular game time in recent years, has started the campaign in good form and is Arsenal’s leading goal scorer with three goals. Which is one more than Alexandre Lacazette.
  • Another new signing who has managed two goals for his new club is Jay Rodriguez. The former Southampton forward has managed two goals, making him West Brom’s top scorer.

HEAD TO HEAD

As if to be expected, Arsenal have dominated this fixture in the last 10 years but the spoils have been shared in the last four meetings between the two sides as they have both won two games each. It was actually West Brom who won the last match with a 3-1 scoreline as the wheels began to truly fall of for Wenger’s side last term. The last time The Baggies beat Arsenal at the Emirates was in 2010 as they won 3-2 after going 3-0 up.

ARSENAL NEWS

At this early stage of the season, this is a must-win game for Wenger and his side as they could easily slip even further into trouble. They are without their top scorer, Danny Welbeck for the clash and he joins Calum Chambers, Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla on the injury table.

WEST BROM NEWS

West Brom have nothing to lose in this match and this could see Tony Pulis adopt an usual attacking style. They have three players who are major doubts for the game as Chris Brunt, Oliver Burke and Nacir Chadli are all having last fitness tests ahead of the fixture.

SUMMARY

At the Emirates, it goes without saying that the Gunners are favourites to take all three points from the match but there is no guarantee these days with the disarray the club is in. It is the perfect chance for West Brom to build on their good start as the hosts have looked very unsettled at home recently. If everything goes right for Arsenal, they could end up scoring a few goals against a resolute Baggies side.
