The Bayern Munich vs Dortmund match will be played on Saturday, April 8th, 2017 at the Allianz Arena, Munich. This is matchday 28 of the 2016/17 Bundesliga season. Bayern Munich is 1st with 65 points while Borussia Dortmund is 4th with 50 points.
The two sides met at the Signal Iduna Park on 19th November 2016 when a single Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang goal made the difference between the two sides. Recent history shows the two sides are evenly matched, with Bayern winning 4 of the last 10 with 3 draws and 3 victories for Dortmund.
Bayern Munich’s air of invincibility cracked at Hoffenheim last weekend. The Bundesliga’s surprise package deservedly triumphed by a single goal with the manner of the defeat calling into question the squad depth of ‘FC Hollywood’. Latest matches: Bayern Munich
Manuel Neuer is expected to miss out with Sven Ulreich continuing to deputise as the German #1 recovers from foot surgery. He joins Douglas Costa and Thomas Mueller on the injured list as Bayern look to recover their poise at the top of the Bundesliga.
Kingsley Coman’s performance last week raised a number of questions about the youngster with Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben likely to provide the width in a tough test for Robert Lewandowski. Even though the Pole was pulled out of training early on Thursday, it was viewed as a precautionary measure rather than serious.

When Dortmund look back on their season, the defeats at places like Stuttgart and Darmstadt will haunt them. Away from their Westfalenstadion base, Borussia has been brittle recently, winning one of their last 5 Bundesliga matches. Latest matches: Borussia Dortmund
Their injury woes continue, with Mario Götze, Erik Durm, André Schürrle and Sebastian Rode all definitely out while Marcel Schmelzer and Marco Reus are both doubtful.
Like Bayern, they are going well in Europe and received a favourable draw with Monaco their opponents in the quarter-final. Winning the Champions League seems a pie in the sky dream, but their participation in next season’s competition is all but assured with a ten-point advantage over Cologne and Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga.

The Bundesliga title is Bayern’s to lose. Even with 21 points still to play for, their 10 point lead at the top is more than enough to see them home.
Last weekend’s defeat was a wake-up call for them even though they rotated the side heavily at Hoffenheim. They hold the upper hand with Dortmund’s injury problems preventing Thomas Tuchel from shuffling his pack.
While Bayern possess the firepower, they surrender chances in defence and in the absence of Neuer, are more vulnerable. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is in the form to take advantage of those slips. The question is whether Dortmund can keep them at bay to make the most of this.
