After unsurprisingly winning the Bundesliga title last season, Bayern Munich will be hoping to go one step further with the UEFA Champions League trophy this term. However, reported unrest between Carlo Ancelotti and his players has affected them in their first five league matches. They face a Wolfsburg side that have struggled so far this campaign in their sixth game and the visitors sit 13th in the table. Bayern Munich are second in the table behind their title rivals, Borussia Dortmund.
As expected, Bayern have dominated Wolfsburg in the past seasons and this dominance is highlighted as the Bavarians have beaten the Wolves 18 times in the last 21 meetings between the sides across all competitions. The last time Wolfsburg beat Bayern was at the beginning of 2015, there have been seven fixtures since. Wolfsburg have scored just once in the last five matches and they have only scored more than 1.5 goals against them once in 11 games.
If they are hoping to overtake Dortmund at the top of the league, nothing other than a win will suffice for Bayern. However, they have plenty of injury worries: Manuel Neuer, Juan Bernat, David Alaba and Thiago Alcantara aren’t expected to make the matchday squad with various injuries.

It is important for Wolfsburg to avoid defeat in this match if they want to improve their form but they have several players either injured or doubtful for the clash. Seven players might be missing as Trasch, Vieririnha, Hinds, Blaszczykowski, Bruma, Brooks and Gomez are currently fighting to return to action.

It is very rare that Bayern Munich will find themselves in a position where they aren’t favourites and this match is no different. Ancelotti’s side won’t take anything other than three points in this match and Wolfsburg shouldn’t pose too much of a threat with the number of players they have sidelined.
