Wolfsburg travel to the Allianz Arena as they look to defy the odds and reach the quarter-final of the DFB Pokal against the current holders of the cup. Many teams have tried and failed to knock Bayern off their perch at the Allianz Arena but in this last 16 cup tie in the DFB Pokal 2016/17, Wolfsburg might be able to grab a win and shock the favourites.
The two sides have only met 3 times in the last 10 years in the DFB Pokal and Bayern have come out on top in all 3 of those meetings, a record that Wolfsburg will be eager to put an end to. Wolfsburg have only won 1 of their last 16 fixtures against Bayern, which won’t fill their fans with hope of winning this one.
Bayern have shown imperious form in the league and in both the DFB Pokal and the Champions League this season and they’ll be looking to carry this on into this fixture. However, with a couple of their key players missing out through injury, it makes this a slightly tougher task. Jerome Boateng, Franck Ribery and Joshua Kimmich are all out-of-action for the last 16 tie.

Wolfsburg will hope to turn their poor recent form around with an unlikely win at the Allianz Arena but with a few absences, they might struggle. The main absences for their trip to Munich are Sebastian Jung, Philipp Wollscheid and Christian Trasch, who will all be greatly missed by Wolfsburg.

Bayern go into the match as huge favourites as they do with most games at their fortress, the Allianz Arena. Wolfsburg have really struggled with picking up results this season and I fully expect that to continue in this game as Bayern are very strong across all competitions. Bayern will most likely find themselves in the hat for the next round and have a great chance to go on and win the competition as well as the Bundesliga.
