This weekend sees one of the best Premier League match-ups of recent history as Liverpool make the trip down south to West London in order to face Chelsea. This comes just four days after the two sides met in the Carabao Cup, the Blues came out on top thanks to a fantastic solo winner from Eden Hazard.
The last five Premier League fixtures between Chelsea and Liverpool have been quite equal as both sides have won one apiece with three draws making up the rest of the results. The Blues won this fixture 1-0 last season following a 1-1 draw at Anfield. However, Liverpool won at Stamford Bridge at the beginning of the 2016/17 campaign where it ended 2-1. Both teams usually score in this fixture and it has happened in six of the last seven matches but over 2.5 goals have been scored just twice with four of those games finishing 1-1.
A home win would take Chelsea top of the league at least until Man City play as this game is tomorrow’s early kick-off. Three players face late fitness tests following recent knocks: Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Pedro whilst Ruben Loftus-Cheek isn’t likely to be involved. Latest matches: Chelsea FC

A win for the visitors would see them extend their lead at the top to five points and would also increase their 100% league record to seven matches. Virgil van Dijk is expected to return to the starting XI while Trent Alexander-Arnold and Georginio Wijnaldum face fitness tests. Adam Lallana and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are still sidelined.

It’s a really tough game to call and with so many draws in the recent fixtures, it is very likely that this game will end the same way. Both teams are in good form and their star men are playing well so it has all the makings to be a fantastic contest. Both teams to score looks almost certain while over 2.5 goals should also come in.
