The Premier League season is into its manic Christmas schedule and with the games coming thick and fast, two of the division’s biggest sides meet on in Saturday late kick-off. Manchester City make the trip to London to face Chelsea.

  • Chelsea have been better this season under Maurizio Sarri but their recent record has seen them slip 10 points behind Man City who are at the top of the league. The Blues are now 4th and face an uphill task to close the gap between themselves and the sides above them. They have lost two of their last three in the league with losses against Tottenham and Wolves coming either side of a win against Fulham.
  • Man City’s Premier League domination has continued this term after romping to the last term last season. They are yet to lose in the league and have won 13 of their 15 league games so far. But with Liverpool’s almost equally good form, they are just two points clear at the top. They last dropped points at the beginning of October in their goalless draw with the Merseysiders.
  • Eden Hazard has contributed to more goals than everyone in the Premier League except Raheem Sterling. With seven goals and six assists, the Belgian is enjoying yet another good season.
  • Man City have two players with eight goals. Both Sterling and Sergio Aguero are chasing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the race for the Golden Boot.

When these two sides meet, it’s never clear as to which will come away with the points. In the last four matches between them, both teams have won on two occasions with Man City winning both games last season and Chelsea winning both the year before. The two fixtures last term both ended 1-0 to the Citizens and Chelsea have won just one of the last four meetings at Stamford Bridge. There have been over 2.5 goals in four of the last six with both teams scoring in three of those.

The hosts must get back to winning ways if they want a realistic chance of winning the title. Ross Barkley has an outside chance of making the squad and he is their only injury worry.

Pep Guardiola will be desperate to ensure his side stay unbeaten as they visit West London on Saturday. However, without Vincent Kompany, Aguero, Benjamin Mendy and Kevin De Bruyne, it certainly shouldn’t be easy.

Despite Chelsea having home advantage, Man City go into this match as favourites. The last two meetings finished 1-0 but it’s hard to see there being less than 2.5 goals on Saturday. The visitors have conceded in four of their last five wins so it looks good value to back Man City to win and both teams to score.
