The Germany vs. Chile match will be played on Thursday, June 22, at the Kazan Arena, Kazan. This is the second round match of Confederations Cup group B. In their first round matches, Chile defeated Cameroon by 2:0, while Germany beat Australia by 3:2.
These national teams played seven times against each other if we count the matches between West Germany and Chile. Germany recorded five victories, and Chile had two wins. They played only one game in the 21st century. It was an international friendly match played in 2014, when Germany celebrated a 1:0 victory.
Germany came to Russia without the biggest stars. Only Julian Draxler, Joshua Kimmich, and Jonas Hector played a significant role in World Cup qualifying cycle, while young Kimmich is the only player from German champion, Bayern Munich, who is currently in the squad. Therefore, we expected that the game against Australia wouldn't be easy, but the World Champions came out on top in the end and celebrated 3:2 victory. It will be extremely hard against Chile, which brought their biggest stars to Russia.
Latest matches: Germany
Chile completely dominated in the match against African champions Cameroon and celebrated an easy 2:0 victory. The result could have been more convincing, but Chile struggled to score until the end of the match - both goals came in the last ten minutes. They will probably be defensive orientated against Germany, but they think they have a chance for the victory since Germany didn't bring the best possible squad to Russia.
Latest matches: Chile
It is tough to predict the outcome of the upcoming game. However, we expect to see more than 2.5 goals.
