The top five European leagues are finished for the summer but some leagues are just getting into full swing. One of those is the Allsvenskan in Sweden where Göteborg and Djurgården are around the mid-table stage after nine and ten games respectively. They meet on Thursday night.
Djurgården will take confidence from their recent meetings with Göteborg with three wins in their last three against the underdogs. However, Thursday’s hosts have only been beaten once in the last seven on their own patch, winning three themselves. That loss came in the most recent meeting as they lost 3-1 to a Djurgården side who scored two quick-fire goals in the second-half to see off the home team.
Ahead of the majority of fixtures at the weekend, three points could propel Göteborg into the top five and pull them away from the mediocrity of mid-table. Latest matches: IFK Gothenburg

As for Djurgården, with just one more point than their opponents, they too would move 5th with a win on Thursday night, putting them towards the end of the table where they expect to be.

Despite both sides being relatively even in their league positions and points tallies, it has to be Djurgården that are considered favourites with a much stronger squad than Göteborg. The visitors are really starting to show the form that got them a 3rd-place finish last term and they should pick up the win in this one.
