With the World Cup feeling as though it was months ago, football has returned to normality with club friendlies and domestic league fixtures taking place. The Danish Superliga has just restarted for the 2018/19 season and Hobro meet Copenhagen in the final game of matchday two.

STATS

  • Hobro got their campaign off to the worst possible start as they were beaten 3-1 against Vejle BK last Friday despite their attempts to stage a late comeback. Last term, they finished just outside the Championship Round before coming top of the Relegation Round Group A, avoiding the drop quite comfortably in the end.
  • On the back of their 4th-place finish last season, Copenhagen had a very poor start this time around. They were defeated 2-1 at home by Horsens in their first match which came in between both of their Europa League qualifying legs which they won against KuPS. Monday’s visitors must pick up a win against Hobro to get back on track.
  • Emmanuel Sabbi scored Hobro’s only goal of the season so far which came when his side were 2-0 down last Friday night.
  • Rasmus Falk scored last Monday night for Copenhagen in the dying minutes when the game was already lost.

HEAD TO HEAD

The recent results between these two sides aren’t as one-sided as you may think with Hobro winning and drawing two of the last three. Copenhagen won the most recent one at the end of February by a 2-0 scoreline after drawing 0-0 in the earlier meeting. Both teams have scored in just two of the last eight fixtures and the last game where both scored was in 2016 as Hobro finished 4-2 winners.

HOBRO NEWS

Hobro are currently bottom of the table so any points will take them off the bottom. They have three injured players: Julian Kristoffersen, Jonas Damborg and Alexander Kirkevold.

COPENHAGEN NEWS

After a nightmare start to the season, three points for Copenhagen will take them 6th in the table while a loss will mean they are bottom heading towards August. Jonas Wind, Pieros Sotiriou, Laszlo Köteles and Mikael Antonsson will all miss out through injury.

SUMMARY

Most people would see Copenhagen as big favourites for this Superliga clash but with Hobro having a good end to last term and the fact that the visitors played three games within a week, it might not be that simple. The match could quite easily end as a draw but Copenhagen will be disappointed if they fail to take all three points.
