With Juventus having all-but secured the Serie A title, they have the chance to win the double as they meet AC Milan in the Coppa Italia final at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday night.

  • Since their home defeat to Napoli which blew the title race wide open, Juventus have won both of their games, despite going behind in both matches. Their 3-2 win against Inter was particularly special with two goals in the last five minutes to turn the game on its head. They knocked Atalanta out in the semi-final thanks to a 2-0 aggregate win.
  • After a run of six fixtures without a win, AC Milan have won both of their last two and have kept their hopes of a European finish alive. They convincingly beat Hellas Verona 4-1 in their last one. It was penalties that saw them into the final as their semi-final against Lazio ended goalless after two legs.
  • Paulo Dybala has had a fantastic season in front of goal in Italy this term with 22 goals for Juve, only Ciro Immobile and Mauro Icardi have more Serie A goals.
  • AC Milan’s main problem this season is their lack of a prolific goalscorer, their leading scorer is Patrick Cutrone who only has eight league goals.

Juventus have been very dominant of AC Milan’s in their recent encounters with the Red and Blacks. They have won each of the last three and 11 of their last 14 matches with AC Milan. This doesn’t make good reading for fans at the San Siro and neither will the fact that they haven’t scored more than 1.5 goals against Juve since 2013. Both teams have scored in four of the last five meetings.

The favourites have been given a boost ahead of the final as Mario Mandzukic, Mattia De Sciglio and Stefano Sturaro have all been given the all-clear to play.

It’s certainly a game where AC Milan are seen as the underdogs despite their midfield being bolstered by the returning Lucas Biglia.

This is Juventus’ final to lose with them having more momentum and a much stronger squad than Wednesday’s counterparts. AC Milan will keep a tight backline and look to counter-attack as they have all season but they shouldn’t have enough quality at either end to prevent Juve from sweeping the domestic double.
