The Netherlands vs. Germany match will be played on Sunday, March 24, at the Johan Cruijff Arena, Amsterdam. This is the second round match of European qualifying group C. Netherlands defeated Belarus at home by 4:0 in the first round, while this will be the first match for Germany. Apart from these teams, Estonia and Northern Ireland were drawn in this group.
In their previous ten meetings, Germany recorded two victories, Netherlands had three wins, while five matches ended in a draw. In seven out of those ten games we saw over 2.5 goals.
Netherlands are traditionally one of the best teams in Europe, but in the previous six years they suffered a huge blow, the biggest in the last 50 years. They failed to qualify for two consecutive big championships, European and World Cup, but in Europa Nations League they showed the world they are getting back on track. Netherlands recorded a draw and a convincing win against Germany in that competition, and they are entering this match with huge self confidence.
Germany had a disappointing World Cup last year and they decided to introduce more young players in the team. However, the results are not as good as expected at the moment and they are struggling not only against the best European teams, even the second-tier national teams such as Serbia, which recorded a 1:1 draw against them a few days ago, are a problem for them.
Netherlands are slight favorites to win the upcoming game. We expect to see over 2.5 goals.
