The Real Madrid vs. PSG match will be played on Wednesday, February 14, at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, Madrid. This is the first leg of Champions League first knockout phase. Real Madrid finished the group phase of the competition in the second place in group H, behind Tottenham, while PSG was the winner of group B, in front of Bayern Munich.
These teams met five times in the last five years. Real Madrid recorded three victories, PSG had one win, while one match ended in a draw. Although both Real and PSG are attack-minded teams, in four out of those five games we saw under 1.5 goals. In their last match PSG recorded a 3:1 victory.
Real Madrid is 17 points behind Barcelona in La Liga currently. Although they have a game in hand, it seems that the title they won in the last season is already lost. They will focus solely on Champions League and try to win the third title in the row. Zinedine Zidane will have a problem with replacement for right back Dani Carvajal, who is suspended for the upcoming game. Raphael Varane might be the man who will cover that position, while Nacho would partner Sergio Ramos in the heart of defense in that case.

PSG is in a brutal form and they almost secured the title in Ligue 1. However, they are desperately needing Champions League glory to justify enormous investment made in the team. Unai Emery won't be able to count on Thiago Motta who is injured, and there is a slight concern over Neymar, who had an ankle knock recently. However, nobody thinks that the Brazilian star will miss the upcoming game.
