With European football taking over the continent on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, league matches return this weekend and they start on Friday evening. The only Serie A fixture involves Roma and Torino and they face off at the Stadio Olimpico. The hosts are currently 3rd in the Italian top-flight while the visitors are 9th, just inside the top half. Roma have started to tail off from the top two, Juventus and Napoli, and are now 15 and 16 points behind the respective sides.
Roma have dominated the league fixtures in the last few years against Torino with three wins in the last four league meetings between the sides. In the earlier meeting between the sides in October, an Aleksandar Kolarov free-kick was the difference, however, Torino did knock Roma out of the Coppa Italia in December as Dzeko’s missed penalty meant the underdogs went through. Both teams have scored in six of the last seven in all competitions so I wouldn’t rule that out on Friday.
The main aim for Roma is to consolidate 3rd as well as have a decent run in Europe as they can’t compete with the top two. Dzeko and Federico Fazio are both suspended so will miss the match while Daniele De Rossi faces a late fitness test to assess his readiness.

Three points for Torino could see them leapfrog Atalanta while they could drop into the bottom half with a loss. They are potentially without Mbaye Niang and Cristian Molinaro while Kevin Benifazi might return.

With home advantage and a considerably stronger squad, Roma are very strong favourites to win this one, even more so because of their win over Napoli last time out. Torino might be able to utilise the fact that their opponents may rest some players ahead of their Champions League fixture in midweek but the visitors won’t expect to take anything from the game.
