The 2018/19 Bundesliga season is underway and after three matches, there are some serious surprises. One of those surprises is Schalke’s form as they are yet to pick up a point, they face Bayern on Saturday who are the only side yet to drop points.
Schalke are like most teams in the Bundesliga in the fact that they have a poor record against Bayern. The last time they beat the European giants was back in 2011 and you have to go three months further back to find their last Bundesliga win against them. Bayern have won 13 of the 16 meetings since Schalke last beat them. There have been over 2.5 goals in each of the last three fixtures but both teams have scored in just two of the last six.
Schalke’s form hasn’t been helped by a few first-team injury problems, Benjamin Stambouli and Bastian Oczipka are definitely out while Sascha Riether, Omar Mascarell and Johannes Geis are all doubts ahead of the match. Latest matches: FC Schalke 04

Bayern have a couple of injuries to deal with but in the context of their big squad, it’s not too bad. Corentin Tolisso, Rafinha and Kingsley Coman will miss the match but Thiago Alcantara has returned to training this week. Latest matches: FC Schalke 04

Bayern go into most Bundesliga matches as favourites and this one is no different. Schalke would usually have more chance of winning but after their shocking start, they are considered even bigger underdogs even at home. Bayern have scored three in each of their games so expect them to grab at least two goals on Saturday while it is very likely that Schalke won’t find the net.
