There’s no rest bite over Easter weekend for European sides especially after the final international break of the season. In Belgium, the Pro League weekend begins on Friday night with Standard Liège facing Charleroi. The season has broken into the play-offs now and sees six teams fight it out for the title. Friday sees the first of those games while the other four kick off their play-off campaigns on Sunday and Monday.
A win for Charleroi on Friday night would break a duct of seven without a win against Standard Liège. Three of the last four meetings between the sides have been draws including the last one just over a month ago as both teams’ top scorers were on target in a 1-1 stalemate. Both teams have scored in two of the last five games and with just two goals in the two fixtures this term, it isn’t a game that produces bags of goals.
It would be a perfect start to the play-offs if Standard were able to record a victory in front of their own fans. With no absentees, they’ll be confident of providing a vital three points. Latest matches: Standard Liege

An away win would be priceless and would take Charleroi top of the table before the other sides have played. Like the hosts, they don’t need to worry about any injuries to their first-team players. Latest matches: Royal Charleroi SC

With two strong Belgian sides locking horns to kick off the play-off season, it couldn’t be much closer. Charleroi finished higher in the regular season however their recent form, especially away from home, is poor. They haven’t scored in their last two matches nor have they won any of their last four away fixtures so Standard will be seen as slight favourites.
